Fortnite’s lightning-fast Blitz Royale mode is officially sticking around for another month.
Originally set to wrap up on July 15, 2025, the mode is now getting a four-week extension—complete with a fresh wave of high-profile crossovers, including Dragon Ball, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Mortal Kombat.
The update came straight from Fortnite, confirming earlier rumours, that “4 More Weeks of Blitz” will begin next week. Fans were already hooked on the mode, but this news sent excitement through the roof. Blitz Royale has been a runaway success since its debut on June 18, racking up over 443,000 concurrent players and even outshining the traditional Battle Royale and Zero Build modes in terms of popularity.
So what’s the big deal about Blitz Royale? It’s Fortnite, but faster and more intense. Matches last just five minutes, there's no building, and it caps out at 32 players. That short runtime, paired with a slick progression system and power-boosting medallions, makes every match feel like a high-stakes sprint. It’s basically the “no time to waste” version of Fortnite—and players can’t seem to get enough of it.
Now, it’s entering its second month with some serious firepower. According to reliable Fortnite leakers like HYPEX and ShiinaBR, each week of the extension will bring a new collaboration, with themed cosmetics, mythic weapons, and loot.
First up is Dragon Ball, which previously introduced Goku, Vegeta, and the iconic Kamehameha attack. Jujutsu Kaisen is also returning, likely bringing back fan favorites like Gojo and Itadori. And for the finishing move? Mortal Kombat steps into the ring with classic fighters such as Scorpion and Sub-Zero.
These aren't just cosmetic updates either. Past collabs have added full-on gameplay changes, and Blitz is tailor-made for that kind of mayhem. Whether it's Avatar’s airbending abilities or TMNT’s ninja gear, Blitz has already proven it can handle high-energy content drops without missing a beat.
Additionally, the developers have announced that the highly popular Mega City from Chapter 4: Season 2 will be added in the new game mode. Mega City resembles a futuristic Tokyo, featuring neon lights, skyscrapers, and grind rails for players to ride on.
That said, the big question remains—will Blitz Royale become a permanent mode? Epic hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but the signals are promising. Given its breakout success and continued updates, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the mode stick around longer than originally planned. However, Epic may also want to keep the mode feeling fresh and avoid the burnout seen with other time-limited events that later became permanent but lost momentum.
For now, players can enjoy a month of anime showdowns and over-the-top fatalities as Fortnite’s summer lineup kicks into high gear.
