Fortnite is stepping into the world of Squid Game this week, with a major crossover event dropping Friday, June 27. The collaboration arrives just as the final season of Squid Game hits Netflix, and it brings a themed map, new gameplay elements, and a wide variety of cosmetics inspired by the show.
The news was first shared during Unreal Fest 2025, where Epic Games announced that Squid Game assets would be made available to UEFN (Unreal Editor for Fortnite) creators. Starting June 27, creators can use official IP tools to design custom islands based on the show's environments.
Game Mode and Map Integration
While player-made creations are on the way, Epic has already crafted its own Squid Game-inspired experience inside Fortnite Reload titled “Squid Grounds,” featuring iconic locations from the series.
Players can explore the infamous dorm room, central arena, and, of course, play minigames like the deadly Red Light, Green Light, tug-of-war, and glass bridge. These POIs are:
Costly Condos
Manager's Meals
Phoney Crossroads
Hectic Hedges
Red Greens
Designer Docks
Square Meals
Player's Power
Affluent Arrivals
The Labyrinth

According to leaker HYPEX, this map replaces Reload Oasis from June 27 to 30, 2025. After June 30, it will rotate with Venture and Slurp Rush, with Reload Oasis returning later.

Final Thoughts
While the crossover brings a solid lineup of cosmetics and creative content, some fans have voiced disappointment over the absence of main characters like Gi-hun or the Front Man. Instead, Fortnite’s versions focus more on its own original character models dressed in Squid Game gear, which some feel takes away from the authenticity.
Still, for Fortnite players and Squid Game fans alike, this event brings a fun and deadly twist to the battle royale universe—one that’s sure to dominate the island for weeks to come.
