Rumors of Bloodborne Remake Resurface After Bluepoint Job Posting

Bluepoint Games, one of PlayStation’s first-party studios, is currently working on a new project centered around third-person melee combat.

Bloodborne.

Known for its high-quality remakes and remasters of classics like Shadow of the Colossus, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, and the God of War trilogy, the studio has built a reputation for technical excellence and faithful recreations.

The last major release from Bluepoint was the Demon’s Souls Remake in 2020, which launched alongside the PlayStation 5. That project not only showcased the studio’s ability to modernize a cult classic but also cemented its place as a core part of PlayStation Studios after Sony acquired the team in 2021. Since then, however, the studio has remained quiet, with no new releases in nearly five years.

Earlier this year, Bluepoint suffered a setback when Sony cancelled its live-service God of War spin-off. While that news disappointed many fans, it seems the team has already shifted focus.

According to a recent job listing spotted by Tech4Gamers, Bluepoint is hiring a Senior Combat Designer to “refine engaging combat systems and mechanics” for its “next great title.” The listing specifically highlights experience with "third-person melee action games," along with responsibilities such as AI gameplay, character balance, and boss design.

Another listing for a Senior Level Designer mentions encounters, puzzles, and interactions, suggesting the project will feature more than just combat. While these details don’t confirm whether the game is an original IP or another remake, they do point toward a combat-heavy experience that plays to Bluepoint’s strengths.

Naturally, speculation has taken off. Some fans believe this could finally be the long-rumored Bloodborne remake, especially given Bluepoint’s history with Demon’s Souls. The timing also fuels the theory, as Sony became the largest shareholder in FromSoftware’s parent company Kadokawa last year, potentially opening the door for collaborations.

Others think the studio might revisit the original God of War trilogy, especially after the cancellation of its live-service project. Reusing assets from that effort could make sense for a remake or reimagining.

For now, nothing is official, and Bluepoint has not commented on the speculation. The job listings are also deleted from the website immediately.
