BMSD 2026 Announced: Prize Pool, Format, and Schedule Explained

KRAFTON has officially announced the Battlegrounds Mobile India Showdown 2026 (BMSD 2026), the third edition of its invite-only A-tier BGMI circuit event.


The tournament runs from September 22 to October 18, 2026, with the LAN Grand Finals set to take place at Savaaya Convention in Hyderabad.


It will be organized jointly by KRAFTON and Tesseract Esports, and matches will be played in the squads TPP mode.


The total prize pool stands at ₹1 crore. The exact prize splits for this edition have not been published yet, but going by last year's numbers, we can get a rough idea of what to expect. In the 2025 edition, which also had a ₹1 crore pool, the champion team walked away with ₹30 lakh. The runner-up took home ₹15 lakh, while the third-place team earned ₹10 lakh. Payouts continued all the way down to the 16th-placed team. Individual honors that year included an MVP award worth ₹2 lakh, a Finals MVP prize of ₹1 lakh, and a Best IGL award of ₹75,000.


The champion of BMSD 2026 will also earn a direct spot at PMGC 2026. The top six teams will move on to BMIC 2026, where India's six slots will be contested against Korea and Japan in Mumbai from October 30 to November 1.


Schedule and Format

Only 48 invited teams will take part this year, so there is no open registration involved.


Invites are being handed out based on performance across the KIE Leaderboard, BGIS 2026, and BMPS 2026.


Here is how the schedule breaks down:

Qualifiers: Sept 22-30, 2026

  • 48 teams, 3 groups of 16 (A, B, C)

  • 3 weeks, 9 matchdays, 18 matches per team total

  • Weekly promotion and relegation:

    • Top 4 from Group B move up to Group A

    • Top 4 from Group C move up to Group B

    • Ranks 5-12 in each group stay

    • Bottom 4 from Group A drop to Group B

    • Bottom 4 from Group B drop to Group C

  • Final seeding after Week 3 decides who moves where next 

    • Group A: Top teams qualify for Grand Finals, while ?? ranked teams move to Semi Finals. Bottom ? teams move to Upper Bracket Survival.

    • Group B: Top teams qualify for Semi-Finals, while ?? ranked teams move to Upper Bracket Survival. Bottom ? teams move to Lower Bracket Survival.

    • Group C: Top teams from Group C qualify for Upper Bracket Survival, while ?? ranked teams move to Lower Bracket Survival. Bottom ? teams are eliminated.


Upper Bracket Survival: Oct 1-3, 2026

  • 16 teams from Qualifiers, 3 matchdays, 18 matches per team

  • Top teams advance to Semi Finals

  • Rest drop to Lower Bracket Survival


Lower Bracket Survival: Oct 4-6, 2026

  • 16 teams from Qualifiers and Upper Bracket Survival, 3 matchdays, 18 matches per team

  • Top teams advance to Semi Finals

  • Bottom teams eliminated


Semi Finals: Oct 8-11, 2026

  • 24 teams, 3 groups of 8, double round robin

  • 4 matchdays, 16 matches per team

  • Top 8 by cumulative standings go to Grand Finals

  • Bottom 16 move to Last Chance


Last Chance: Oct 12-13, 2026

  • 16 teams, 2 matchdays, 12 matches total

  • Top teams advance to Grand Finals

  • Rest eliminated


Grand Finals: Oct 16-18, 2026

  • 16 teams, 3 matchdays, 18 matches total

  • Lineup includes direct qualifiers from Group A, 8 teams from Semi Finals, and Last Chance survivors

  • Champion crowned here


NOTE: Some exact team counts for the transition stages haven’t been confirmed by KRAFTON yet, so there might be minor updates as the event approaches. I’ll update the article once they’re announced, so no need to worry.


Scoring follows the usual placement system, with 10, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 points awarded for the top eight finishers, plus one point per kill. Ties will be broken first by WWCDs, then placement points, then kills, and finally last match rank.

A little bit of history

The very first edition back in 2022 was a B-tier event held in Delhi NCR with 24 teams competing for a prize pool of ₹15 lakh. That tournament also happened to be the first official BGMI LAN, and it ended with 7Sea Esports beating Orangutan.


The 2025 edition was a much bigger affair. Held at the Tesseract Arena in Hyderabad with 24 teams and the full ₹1 crore pool, Orangutan finally broke through. They finished with 147 points, ahead of K9 Esports on 142 and Team SouL on 134. Orangutan's win came with the ₹30 lakh top prize and a PMGC Gauntlet slot, and the top 8 teams moved on to BMIC 2025. NinjaBoi of K9 Esports picked up the MVP award, while SnowJOD took home both the Finals MVP and Best Clutch honors. Aaru of Orangutan was named Best IGL.


BMSD occupies an interesting spot in the BGMI calendar. It sits between BMPS, which offers a bigger prize pool and a path to EWC, and the bigger stage events like BMIC and PMGC.
