Orangutan has finally broken its championship curse, winning the BGMI Showdown (BMSD) 2025 Grand Finals and securing a historic first official BGMI title.

For years, Orangutan carried the label of “almost champions.” They were the team that always looked strong, always reached the podium, but somehow never managed to stand on the top step. That narrative has now been rewritten. At the BMSD 2025 Grand Finals, Orangutan not only claimed the championship but also walked away with ₹30 lakhs in prize money and a direct slot to the PMGC 2025 Gauntlet.
This victory didn’t come out of nowhere. Earlier in the year, Orangutan proved they could handle the pressure by winning the iQOO Battlegrounds Series 2025, a breakthrough that gave them the confidence to finally close out a major title. That momentum carried into BMSD, where they played with composure and belief from the very first match.
The Grand Finals themselves were a rollercoaster. Day 3 saw six matches that kept fans on edge. Team Aryan, 8Bit, MadKings, and Nebula Esports all picked up crucial wins, but it was Orangutan’s Match 17 Chicken Dinner on Miramar that sealed the deal. Nebula impressed with two victories on the final day, yet Orangutan’s tactical mastery and ability to control key positions gave them the edge. Even when they were eliminated early in Match 18, rivals K9 Esports and Team SouL couldn’t capitalize, leaving Orangutan at the top with 147 points.
The win also carries huge importance for Indian BGMI esports. Orangutan’s direct qualification to PMGC 2025 Gauntlet means India has a strong contender on the global stage. Alongside them, the top eight teams from BMSD — including K9 Esports, SouL, and Nebula — will represent India at the BGMI International Cup 2025, where they’ll face elite squads from South Korea and Japan later this year.
