Activision Fan Survey

According to reports by Detonated, Activision has started sending out surveys to members of its Recon Squad feedback program. The survey asks players to rank which storyline or sub-series they’d like to see brought to the big screen. Options include:

  • Black Ops

  • Modern Warfare

  • Call of Duty Zombies

  • Other sub-series (such as Ghosts or Advanced Warfare)

  • A brand-new Call of Duty story

While it’s unlikely the final decision will rest solely on fan votes, Activision’s move shows that the publisher and Paramount are interested in making sure the film resonates with longtime players.

This isn’t the first time Activision has pursued a Call of Duty movie. Back in 2015, the company launched Activision Blizzard Studios with plans to build a connected universe of films inspired by different sub-series, including Modern Warfare and Black Ops.

Despite high-profile names like director Stefano Sollima (Sicario: Day of Soldado) and writer Scott Silver (Joker) being attached, the projects never materialized.

Now, with Paramount, known for its work on Sonic the Hedgehog and the Halo adaptation, Activision is aiming to revive the long-lost dream.

Paramount CEO David Ellison is himself a big fan of the franchise and spoke highly of the upcoming project during its announcement. He highlighted everything from Call of Duty’s original World War II titles to beloved series like Black Ops and Modern Warfare.

“We’re approaching this film with the same disciplined, uncompromising commitment to excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverick. Our mission is to honor the legacy of this one-in-a-million brand—thrilling longtime fans of Call of Duty while captivating a whole new generation,” Ellison said.

For now, Activision solely focuses on the next mainline game in the series, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which is set to release in November 2025, with a multiplayer beta launching in early October.
