Sid Meier’s Civilization VI: Platinum Edition will be leaving Netflix’s mobile games library at the end of this month.
Announced during Netflix Geeked Week 2024, the game was launched on December 5th, 2024. Less than a year later, a notice now confirms that the last day to play will be September 30th, after which the game will no longer load and all saves will be lost. By October 1st, it will also be removed from the App Store.
The Civilization series has long been known for its addictive “just one more turn” gameplay, and Civilization VI is widely regarded as one of its most ambitious entries. Players had the freedom to guide their chosen civilization toward victory through science, culture, religion, or outright military conquest, while going head-to-head with famous historical leaders.
For those who still want to play, Civilization VI is available separately on the Google Play and Apple App Stores. However, unlike Netflix’s ad-free version, these versions include in-app purchases.
According to reports by What's on Netflix, Civilization VI wasn’t among Netflix’s most-played games in recent months, which may explain why it’s being cycled out. Netflix has already seen dozens of titles leave its service in 2025 as part of a wider restructuring of its gaming strategy. Many indie-focused projects have been canceled, with the company now shifting attention toward larger franchises and cross-platform experiences.
Looking ahead, Netflix still has some notable releases lined up. WWE 2K 2025 is slated for this fall, and the company has announced several upcoming kids’ games tied to shows like Dr. Seuss adaptations, PAW Patrol Academy, Toca Boca Hair Salon 4, and LEGO DUPLO World NETFLIX. Meanwhile, Netflix is also testing unannounced titles for connected devices and browsers, while interactive specials such as Black Mirror and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt are expected to make a return under the games tab.
