Key Gameplay Features
Now that we know when it’s dropping, let’s talk about what you’re actually getting on December 4. Cloudheim is the kind of game that blends a little bit of everything — action RPG combat, crafting, exploration, and even base-building — into one colorful world.
Here’s what stands out the most:
1. Physics-Driven Combat
If you love chaotic, stylish combat, Cloudheim leans into it hard. You can kick enemies off cliffs, juggle them mid-air like a fighting game, pull them with lassos, or launch mobs (and your friends) from cannons. The destructible environments also create plenty of chances for extra damage and creative kills. Mana Burn system lets players temporarily break cooldowns by performing stylish combos, which helps the combat feel fast and playful. Four classes (bruiser, ranger, etc.) let you mix weapons/skills for hybrid builds.
2. Co-op Exploration on Sky Islands
You can play solo or team up with up to four players. The world is made of floating islands corrupted after Ragnarok, with biomes ranging from icy zones to desert wastelands. Each island hides quests, puzzles, shifting dungeons, and loot — meaning you’re rewarded for exploring rather than rushing objectives.
3. Real-Time Crafting and Base Building
Crafting uses a visual match-3-style system:
3 ores → 1 bar
3 bars → 1 weapon
No menus, no waiting — it all happens in real time. You also run your own shop, expand your base on the giant turtle fortress (Odin Shell), and use facilities to upgrade your gear, cook food, and brew potions.

Early Reviews: What Critics Are Saying So Far
The game is still fresh, but early impressions give us a pretty good idea of what to expect.
DualShockers noted that it is “a good game, but it is marred by uncertainty about its direction,” as per its early review. They praised the chaotic combat — especially the ability to use enemies as “bowling balls and pins” — but also mentioned that some systems feel overwhelming or incomplete.
Game8 described Cloudheim as having “high potential”, pointing out that its Early Access foundation is strong even if some mechanics need polishing.
Most reviewers agree on a few major points:
What’s Working Well
The physics-based combat is hilarious and satisfying
Co-op exploration feels lively
The world design is colorful and charming
Crafting is simple and intuitive
The turtle base (Odin Shell) is a unique idea
What Needs Improvement
Progression systems can feel cluttered
Inventory management gets tedious
Base-building slows down pacing
Story and dialogue are very light
Occasional physics bugs and janky interactions
Still, many reviewers expect these issues to improve as development continues — after all, this is just the beginning of Early Access.
