The Deluxe Edition comes with some notable extras. These include early access to the Machine Gun [MP] (Level 1), as well as Gold versions of the Battle Skeleton, Boost Skeleton, and Bokka Skeleton (Levels 1 through 3). Players also get three additional patches: Patch 70 (Quokka), Patch 71 (Chiral Cat), and Patch 72 (Why Me?).
Pre-purchase bonuses apply to both editions and include a Custom Hologram (Quokka), along with Silver versions of all three skeleton types.
There is also a neat bonus for PlayStation fans. Linking your PlayStation Network account to the PC version unlocks a PlayStation-branded Porter Suit and a "Link" patch for Sam.
PC Specific Features
According to a post on the PlayStation Blog by Nixxes, the PC version is shaping up to be a technically strong package. The team has included support for all major upscaling technologies, namely DLSS 4, FSR 4, and XeSS 2. On top of that, the game will also feature Decima's own proprietary Pico (Progressive Image Compositor) upscaler as an additional option.
Ultrawide and super-ultrawide displays are supported as well. Players can enjoy full 21:9 support for cutscenes and up to 32:9 in gameplay. Framerates are unlocked, and native mouse and keyboard support with custom bindings is included. For those on handhelds, a dedicated "Portable" preset has been built in specifically for devices like the Steam Deck.
One of the more exciting additions is full DualSense controller support. This means PC players can still experience the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback that made the PS5 version stand out. As per reports by Nixxes, the haptics work over a wired connection.
PC System Requirements
Here is a breakdown of what your PC will need to run the game:
Tier | GPU | CPU | RAM | Target |
Minimum | GTX 1660 / RX 5500 XT 8GB | i3-10100 / Ryzen 3 3100 | 16GB | 1080p @ 30 FPS |
Medium | RTX 3060 12GB / RX 6600 | i5-11400 / Ryzen 5 5600 | 16GB | 1080p @ 60 FPS |
High (Recommended) | RTX 3070 / RX 6800 | i7-11700 / Ryzen 7 5700X | 16GB | 1440p @ 60 FPS |
Very High | RTX 4080 / RX 9070 XT | i7-11700 / Ryzen 7 5700X | 16GB | 4K @ 60 FPS |
All tiers require Windows 10 or 11 (Version 1909 or newer) and 150GB of SSD storage. The specs are fairly reasonable given how visually rich the game is.
The first Death Stranding set a strong precedent for well-optimized PC ports back in 2020, so the expectations here are genuinely high.
How Did the Game Land on PS5?
Death Stranding 2 launched on PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025, with Deluxe and Collector's Edition buyers getting 48-hour early access from June 24. The reception was strong across the board.
As per reports from Metacritic, the game sits at an 89 based on 147 critic reviews, landing firmly in "Generally Favorable" territory with a 95% positive rating. The user score is an 8.8 from over 3,500 ratings. OpenCritic averaged around 90.
Critics praised the tighter combat, smoother traversal, richer storytelling, and improved pacing compared to the original. Many called it one of 2025's best games. The PSN user rating also climbed above 9.3.
Minor criticisms included some occasional pacing dips and the usual "only Kojima could make this" strangeness, but those were largely brushed aside by the overwhelmingly positive consensus.
