The show will stream on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally, marking the first major attempt to bring Far Cry’s chaotic world into a primetime format.

The Far Cry games have been around since 2004, carving out a reputation for open-world mayhem, sharp gunplay, and unforgettable villains. Each entry has reinvented itself as an anthology, moving players to new locations and introducing fresh antagonists. From tropical islands to cult-ridden Montana, the series thrives on unpredictability. Now, FX and Ubisoft are aiming to capture that same energy on screen.

According to Variety, the show will be executive-produced by Noah Hawley, known for Fargo and Alien: Earth, alongside Rob Mac (Rob McElhenney of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fame), who will also star in the first season.

Both creators emphasized that the series will follow an anthology format, just like the games. That means each season will feature a new cast, setting, and storyline, giving the show freedom to explore different corners of the Far Cry universe.

Ubisoft has tried branching out before, with an animated series and even a 2008 direct-to-video film, but neither captured the essence of the franchise. This FX collaboration feels different, thanks to the creative team’s proven track record in balancing dark themes with sharp storytelling.

There’s no confirmed release date yet, and production is still in early stages. Realistically, we may not see the first season until 2027 at the earliest, given the time needed for casting, location scouting, and filming.
