The Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy will officially be released on Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, alongside PlayStation 5 and PC.
Official Announcement
Director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed the news in a post on X, stating that the team is committed to expanding the FF7 Remake series to “major platforms moving forward.” That lineup includes PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
Hamaguchi explained that Square Enix’s decision to go fully multiplatform reflects a desire to let players enjoy the series “in a way that suits their lifestyle.” He also shared that, as the trilogy nears its conclusion, he is “truly grateful that more people will have the opportunity to experience the world we’ve poured our hearts into.”
This announcement follows the arrival of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on Xbox and Switch 2, which naturally raised the question of whether future installments would also be available outside of PlayStation. Now, fans finally have clarity.
Hamaguchi had hinted at a wider release strategy in the past, mentioning earlier this year that Part 3 would launch on “a wide range of platforms.” However, he stopped short of giving concrete details at the time. Today’s statement closes that gap, assuring fans that the entire trilogy—Remake, Rebirth, and the upcoming Part 3—will be playable across all major systems.
Release Timing Questions
While confirmation is welcome, two big questions remain:
Will Part 3 release simultaneously across all platforms? Square Enix has not yet confirmed if Xbox and Switch 2 versions will arrive day-and-date with PlayStation 5 and PC editions, or if they will face a delay similar to past releases.
When will Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launch for Xbox and Switch 2? According to recent reports, Rebirth is expected to arrive on both platforms sometime in 2026, though Square Enix has not provided an exact date.
Earlier, Producer Tetsuya Nomura revealed that the team knows exactly when Part 3 will be announced, but they're not ready to share that date just yet.
