Fortnite has officially introduced a brand-new crossover with Borderlands 4, bringing Mad Moxxi to the battle royale — but there's a catch. While the Moxxi Bundle will eventually appear in the Item Shop on September 29, 2025, players can unlock it early and for free by preordering Borderlands 4 through the Epic Games Store.

This isn't the first time the two franchises have teamed up. Their crossover history dates back to 2019’s Fortnite x Mayhem event, which brought a cel-shaded Pandora zone, regenerating shields, and the popular Psycho Bandit Bundle. That pack included the Psycho skin, Claptrap back bling, and Buzz Axes — a fan-favorite that made a brief return in April 2025 during the lead-up to Borderlands 4.

Now, Epic is giving players another exclusive: the Moxxi Bundle, which features the Mad Moxxi outfit, Moxxi’s Tip Jar back bling, Underdome Megaphone pickaxe, and potentially a themed emote.

But there's one major requirement — you’ll need to preorder Borderlands 4 through Epic’s store and make sure your Fortnite and Epic Games accounts are properly linked.

According to Epic, the early access window for the Moxxi Bundle runs until September 12, 2025. After that, the bundle won’t be available again until it appears in the Fortnite Item Shop on September 29 — and at that point, it’ll cost V-Bucks.

If you buy the game through another platform like Steam or console stores, you won't get the bundle at all. Also, if you refund Borderlands 4 after claiming the bonus, the skin will be removed from your Fortnite locker.

This limited-time offer is clearly designed to boost Borderlands 4 preorders through Epic. As per reports from Gearbox, the upcoming title is aiming high, with a much larger world, seamless zone transitions, and new playable characters like Vex and Rafa. The game is scheduled to release on September 12, the same day early access to the Moxxi skin ends.

That said, the promotion isn’t without controversy. Many players are voicing frustration over the exclusive nature of the skin, especially since it’s tied to a specific storefront. This mirrors past debates around timed exclusives and the role Epic Games Store plays in the broader PC gaming ecosystem.
