After nearly three years of absence, Fortnite fans may finally see the return of the beloved Street Fighter skins.

The popular crossover outfits, which include icons like Chun-Li, Ryu, Cammy, Guile, Blanka, and Sakura, were last seen in the Item Shop in August 2022—a whopping 1,032 days ago. Now, fresh leaks and updated in-game assets are fueling excitement across the Fortnite community.

What Sparked the Rumors?

According to trusted Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR, the v35.20 update contains fully updated Street Fighter skin assets, which is often a strong indicator that a return is imminent. This follows a similar pattern seen with other franchises, like the Dune bundle, which reappeared in the shop shortly after similar backend updates.

With Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 launching on June 7, 2025, and the Street Fighter franchise celebrating a major anniversary this week, many fans believe the timing is perfect for a re-release.

Community Reactions: “Finally, I Can Rest”

Social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit are bursting with reactions. Players are flooding forums and comment sections with posts like:

  • Chun-Li now gonna be everywhere. I love it.

  • Finally. I can rest.

  • If this doesn’t happen now, it never will.

However, there’s also a dose of skepticism. Some fans point out that updated shop assets don't always guarantee immediate returns, referencing cases like Kratos where expectations went unfulfilled.

While excitement is high, so is frustration. Some players feel Epic Games has sidelined Street Fighter in favor of recurring collaborations like Star Wars, calling for more attention to Capcom properties. “No one cares about STAR WARS—we want Street Fighter!” one angry fan wrote (not me).

Fans are also calling for new Street Fighter additions, like Ken or Akuma, possibly tied into Street Fighter 6, to add more depth to the returning bundle.

The original Fortnite x Street Fighter collab first launched in 2021, kicking off with Ryu and Chun-Li, and quickly became one of the most beloved crossover events in Fortnite history. The skins stood out not just for nostalgia, but for their high-quality design and seamless emote integration.

Other Skins Possibly Returning Soon

The Street Fighter skins aren’t the only ones rumored to return. Other expected comebacks include:

  • Ferrari skins (last seen 1,338 days ago)

  • Janky

  • Gamora and Star-Lord

  • Rick and Morty skins

  • Beast Boy

  • Best in Show bundle

  • Takumi of the Tides

These are all based on datamined updates, so while not officially confirmed, the odds are looking good.

Should You Save Your V-Bucks?

Absolutely. If you’ve been waiting to snag Chun-Li or Ryu, now’s the time to stockpile your V-Bucks. Keep a close eye on the Item Shop over the coming days—especially around June 7, the launch of the new season.
