Fortnite Update Quietly Limits Emotes in Party Royale Mode

Fortnite’s latest update, v37.0, didn’t just bring new skins and remove a couple of game modes — it also quietly tweaked how certain emotes behave in Party Royale, and players are starting to notice.
According to community tracker SentinelCentral on X, Epic Games has disabled the “Bring it Round” and “Ride the Pony” emotes when used near players performing “Poki” or “Party Hips.”
While Epic hasn’t issued an official statement, the reason seems pretty clear: when these emotes overlap, the animations can look… well, suggestive. And that’s not exactly the vibe Epic wants in a mode designed for casual hangouts.
SentinelCentral even joked that they “feel bad for Epic even adding this ‘fix’, due to how some people in the community are just … weirdos.” They also hinted that more emotes might be affected, though nothing’s been confirmed yet.
This kind of moderation isn’t new in gaming. Roblox recently updated its community standards to crack down on “romantic and sexual content,” including avatar emotes and behaviors. Fortnite seems to be following suit, especially since its player base includes a lot of younger users.
Social media reactions have been mixed — but mostly supportive. Comments like “W Fortnite, enough of that weird funny business” and “Glad they’re shutting this down” show that many players appreciate Epic stepping in. Others pointed out how bizarre it is that this kind of fix is even necessary, but acknowledged it’s probably for the best.
For now, Epic hasn’t said whether more emotes will be restricted, though SentinelCentral suggested there could be additional restrictions. Whether this is a temporary patch or part of a broader moderation strategy, the update clearly shows Epic’s intent to keep Fortnite’s social spaces under control.
