Epic Games has confirmed that 10.5 million players logged in to experience Zero Hour, Fortnite’s latest blockbuster live event. Another 3 million viewers tuned in via streaming platforms, making it one of the biggest spectacles the game has ever hosted.

Heroes Unite Against the Dark Presence
The event played out like a crossover straight out of Avengers: Endgame. Characters such as Iron Man, Superman, Godzilla, and the KPop Demon Hunters joined Fortnite’s roster of heroes to battle the Dark Presence, the game’s newest villain. Fans had been teased about these appearances beforehand, but the actual storyline kept everyone guessing. Even after clashes involving King Kong and a Star Destroyer, the Dark Presence remained undefeated—at least until Fortnite’s own lore took center stage. In a dramatic twist, Jonesy summoned the infamous Cube, turning the tide and finally defeating the Dark Presence.
Chapter 7 Teased
After the gameplay concluded, players were surprised by a cutscene that revived Fortnite’s original storyline. The cinematic confirmed the return of the Seven and their ongoing battle against the Cube’s civilization, known as The Last Reality.
Epic also teased Fortnite Chapter 7, which introduces a new map inspired by the southern US. Expect Fortnite-style versions of Hollywood and Area 51, plus fresh mechanics like wingsuits and drivable Reboot Vans. Of course, the peace doesn’t last long—the Last Reality’s mothership arrives and promptly destroys the Battle Bus, setting the stage for the next chapter.
Following the event, Fortnite went offline for several hours to prepare for Chapter 7’s launch later tonight.
