Forza Horizon 6, the latest entry in Playground Games' beloved open-world arcade racing series, is set to launch on Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 19, 2026, with Premium Edition holders getting a head start from May 15.
Developed with support from Turn 10 Studios and published under Xbox Game Studios, this sixth chapter takes the franchise to Japan for the first time. And not just a surface-level recreation of the country either. We're talking a massive, fictionalized open world that blends the sprawl of urban Tokyo with mountain touge roads, cherry blossom-lined countryside, and dynamic seasons that change how the world looks and feels. It's the most ambitious map the series has ever attempted, and early reviews suggest Playground pulled it off in style.

Release Dates and Platforms
Forza Horizon 6 will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Microsoft Store and Steam). It is also playable through Xbox Cloud Gaming under Game Pass Ultimate.
A PlayStation 5 version is confirmed but has no set date yet, with the PlayStation Store simply listing it as "coming soon."
Notably, Xbox One is not supported natively. However, Xbox One owners can still access the game through Xbox Cloud Gaming if they hold an active Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

The game is a day-one title on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, covering the Standard Edition at no extra cost. However, Game Pass Essential, Premium, and the Starter tier do not include Forza Horizon 6, which is worth keeping in mind before assuming your subscription qualifies.
Subscribers of the Ultimate tier who want early access will still need to purchase the Premium Upgrade separately.
A quick note for car enthusiasts specifically: pre-ordering any edition gets you the Ferrari J50 in your garage. Ferrari only built 10 of these in real life, created to celebrate 50 years of the brand in Japan, so it's a genuinely cool reward for early buyers.

What's New in Forza Horizon 6
Japan has been one of the most requested locations in the franchise's history, and Playground Games has gone all out to do it justice. According to early reports, the team worked with cultural consultants to ensure authenticity throughout the map and its storylines. Here is what is new this time around:

The Cover Car
The cover car for Forza Horizon 6 is the 2025 Toyota GR GT Prototype. This is a race-derived sports car making its video game debut here, ahead of its expected production entry in 2027. You can unlock it by progressing through the main Horizon Festival campaign.
