Hollow Knight: Silksong’s Price Leak Has the Community Buzzing

Hollow Knight Silksong has now been listed on GameStop for Nintendo Switch at just $19.99.

That price tag immediately sparked buzz online, with players wondering if it’s legit or just a placeholder ahead of the game’s long‑awaited release.

The listing first popped up on the Hollow Knight subreddit, where users shared screenshots and tried adding the game to their carts. But checkout attempts didn’t go through, hinting that the price might not be final yet. Still, the low number has kicked off plenty of debate about what Team Cherry should actually charge for one of 2025’s most hyped indie titles.

For context, the original Hollow Knight launched back in 2017 at just $14.99 — a modest price for a debut project from a small studio. Team Cherry said they wanted the game to be accessible to as many players as possible, and that strategy clearly worked. The game went on to sell over 15 million copies, sometimes dropping to as low as $5.99 during sales. That success helped cement the studio’s reputation for keeping things affordable.

Now, with Silksong on the horizon, fans are split. Some expected a price closer to $40 or even $60, given the scale of the sequel and years of anticipation. Others think Team Cherry might stick to a lower price as a way of “giving back” to the community. One Reddit user summed it up: “I was ready to pay 40 bucks. Am I crazy? I'm not even as big of a fan as you guys, but it's been the going rate for quality games, especially if they're a sequel to a well loved one.”

The conversation even drifted into Game Pass territory. If Silksong really launches at $19.99, some players say it could make more sense to buy it outright than subscribe — especially with Game Pass costing $12 to $15 a month.

Team Cherry’s pricing philosophy seems to lean toward accessibility, and they’ve already shown how powerful a low entry point can be. Sure, they could charge more now — but pushing the price too high might invite comparisons to bigger‑budget games, which could shift expectations. Keeping it under $20 keeps things simple and appealing, just like the original.

As the game is just days away, we might soon know whether this GameStop price is legitimate or simply a placeholder.
