GTA 6 Could Revive Cancelled GTA Online Music Feature

Rockstar Games may be bringing back a cancelled GTA Online feature in GTA 6, according to well-known insider Tex2 (formerly Tez2). If true, fans who enjoy music creation inside games could finally see a long-awaited idea come to life.

The Cancelled Music Update

Back in 2022, Tex reported that Rockstar had been working on a GTA Online update centered around music. The plan was to let players create their own beats and mixes directly in-game. For those who remember Rockstar’s 2009 release Beaterator, this sounded like a spiritual successor. Adding to the speculation, Take-Two had even registered the domain “rapponator.com” in 2020, hinting at possible music-related projects. However, no such update has surfaced so far.

Fast forward to now, and Tex has shared new details in a GTA Forums thread (spotted by RockstarIntel). He revealed that Rockstar had originally planned to expand Record A Studios (introduced in The Contract update) with “Beaterator-like features.” Players would have been able to create custom mixes, but the idea was scrapped for GTA V Online. Tex claims, however, that this feature is “definitely” coming to GTA VI. As he put it, a mobile radio or music player is just a small step compared to what’s planned.

Final Thoughts

If Rockstar really does bring music creation into GTA 6, it could be one of the most unique features the series has ever seen. Fans have been asking for more creative tools beyond the usual crime-focused gameplay, and this would deliver exactly that.

We’ll have to wait for official confirmation, but the idea of blending GTA’s chaotic open world with music-making tools is exciting. What about you—would you spend time creating beats in GTA 6, or stick to the usual radio playlist?
