New Job Posting Hints A Harry Potter Online Multiplayer Game

Looks like Avalanche Software could be waving its wand at something new – job listings hint they're working on an online multiplayer RPG set in the Harry Potter universe alongside a potential sequel to Hogwarts Legacy.

If you check out Warner Bros.' website, you'll spot Avalanche Software hunting for several key positions including Executive Producer and Game Director for "online multiplayer RPG." While these listings don't specifically name-drop Harry Potter, there are plenty of reasons to believe the Wizarding World might be involved.

Hogwarts Legacy has been an absolute phenomenon since launching in 2023, selling over 30 million copies and still remaining in the top sales charts even without additional content. Given this massive success, it makes sense that Warner Bros. would want to expand the franchise into the multiplayer realm.

While we know Avalanche has Hogwarts Legacy 2 in the works, that doesn't seem to be an online multiplayer game. Their job advertisement on Twitter mentions "multiple" games. This suggests they might have two Harry Potter projects cooking at once.

A survey (spotted by X0X_LEAK on X) reportedly distributed by the studio has been asking players about their preferences for online features, including lobby systems, player profile customization, and community elements. This aligns perfectly with the development of a new multiplayer title.

Interestingly, Avalanche may not be finished with the original Hogwarts Legacy just yet. Some reports indicate that the game could receive downloadable content (DLC) sometime in 2025. While details remain scarce, this potential DLC might feature a new story quest and could be priced between $20 and $30.

We don't know much about either the sequel or this possible online game – like whether Hogwarts Legacy 2 will keep the same main character or introduce someone new, or even which time period it'll be set in.

Experts think both games are probably in the early development stages, so fans might need to be as patient as a Hufflepuff before Avalanche shares any official news.

A shift toward multiplayer would be a significant change for the franchise, which hit it big with its single-player, open-world approach. As industry trends go, successful game series often explore online features to keep players engaged longer and open up new revenue streams.

For now, Harry Potter fans can only speculate about what might be coming next, as Warner Bros. and Avalanche Software have yet to make any official announcements regarding these rumored projects.
