Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Game Studios has dropped a fresh teaser that strongly hints at a crossover with the Halo franchise, just weeks before the co-op shooter lands on Xbox.
In the latest promotional video, most of the trailer is backed by Christian rap metal band P.O.D., but toward the end, the tone changes completely — switching to a smooth, jazzy track fans might recognize from the Halo 3: ODST soundtrack.
Alongside the musical nod, viewers caught a glimpse of what seems to be an M8900 Single Occupant Exoatmospheric Insertion Vehicle — the iconic drop pod used by Halo’s Orbital Drop Shock Troopers — descending into a sprawling Helldivers 2 mega city. According to fans, that’s about as direct a tease as it gets for incoming ODST-themed content.
Arrowhead has done a crossover before, most notably with Guerrilla Games’ Killzone, adding Helghast armor and cosmetics last December. However, as per previous comments by Arrowhead’s chief creative officer Johan Pilestedt, the studio has been careful about outside collaborations to "avoid IP dilution." Still, Pilestedt has admitted interest in sci-fi properties like Aliens, Terminator, Blade Runner, and Starship Troopers — placing Halo near the top of that wish list, though stopping short of making Master Chief a playable character.
If the Halo 3: ODST crossover happens, fans can likely expect armor sets, weapons, and cosmetic items such as flags and capes. The timing also makes sense — Helldivers 2 hits Xbox Series X on August 26 — marking the first PlayStation exclusive to jump ship to rival platform.
