Hogwarts Legacy Is Free Again on Epic Games Store — Here's How to Claim It

Hogwarts Legacy is available for free on the Epic Games Store, and players have until May 3, 2026, at 8:00 AM PDT / 11:00 AM EDT to claim it.
This is actually the second time Epic has offered the game at no cost on the platform. The first time was back in December 2025, when Epic Games proudly announced the giveaway at The Game Awards 2025. Now the title is back up for grabs, giving anyone who missed out the second chance they needed.
For those unfamiliar with the game, Hogwarts Legacy is an action-adventure RPG developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. It is set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but takes place roughly a century before the events of the main franchise. That means a largely fresh story, new characters, and a world that feels both familiar and unexplored at the same time. Since its original launch on February 10, 2023, the game went on to become the highest-selling title of that year, which says a lot about the reception it got.
The game puts players in the role of a student at Hogwarts, where they get sorted into a house, attend classes, explore the iconic castle, and uncover some genuinely dark secrets hiding within. As an RPG, the choices players make shape how the story unfolds. Players also get to pick and master their preferred set of spells, which adds a layer of customization that keeps things interesting. Beyond the main story, there is plenty of student life to engage with through various side activities scattered throughout the world.
Hogwarts Legacy was originally released across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch. It was also made available as a launch title on the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025. It has sold 40 million copies so far.
How to Claim Hogwarts Legacy for Free on Epic Games
The process is straightforward. Here is how to grab it:
Create a free Epic Games account at the Epic Games Store website if you do not already have one.
Head to the Store page and scroll down to the Free Games section.
Find Hogwarts Legacy and click on its banner to go to the game page.
Click the "Get" button to add the game to your library.
