Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.4, titled “For the Sun is Set to Die,” is officially launching on July 2, 2025, with a July 1 release for NA servers due to time zone differences. This update brings a packed schedule featuring a highly anticipated Fate/stay night collaboration, new characters, major reruns, and a host of gameplay improvements designed to freshen up the experience for both veterans and newcomers.

As revealed in the Version 3.4 Special Program livestream on June 20, the update kicks off after a standard five-hour maintenance period, with Trailblazers at Level 4 or higher receiving 300 Stellar Jade as compensation. The buzz, however, isn’t just about the release date — it’s about what’s coming with it.

Fate/stay night Collaboration Begins

The highlight of this version is undoubtedly the collab with Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] — a crossover fans have been waiting for since its announcement last year. Beginning July 11, players will be able to dive into a special event titled “Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail War”, set in Penacony. This storyline features characters like Aventurine and Robin summoning historical Heroic Spirits as Servants, including Saber, Archer, and Lancer.

Saber enters as a 5-star Wind Destruction character, boasting high-speed AoE attacks and enhanced skills. Archer, a 5-star Quantum Hunt unit, is offered for free to all players who log in during the event and is tailored for powerful single-target DPS. Notably, both Saber and Archer’s banners feature separate pity systems, diverging from typical limited banners.

Phainon Joins as a Playable Character

Version 3.4 also welcomes Phainon, a major NPC from the Amphoreus arc, as a 5-star Physical Destruction character. His unique mechanic revolves around accumulating “Coreflames” to trigger a transformation and unleash devastating area attacks. He will be the main face of Phase 1's banner from July 1 to July 23, titled "To Evermore Burn as the Sun."

His hometown, Idis Elysiae, becomes the newest explorable region through a new Trailblaze Mission, expanding the lore-rich setting introduced in previous patches.

Rerun Characters and System Updates

There’s no shortage of reruns in 3.4 either. Phase 1 will also bring back Tribbie, Sparkle, and Sunday, while Phase 2 (from July 23 to August 12) features Firefly, Jingliu, and Blade

Several fan-favorite characters — including Silver Wolf, Kafka, and Blade — are also getting buffs to their kits and Eidolons via the Novaflare Character Enhancement System. Players can toggle between their classic and updated versions depending on their preferred playstyle.

Firefly also gets a sleek new outfit, “Spring Missive,” which will be available in the Contract Shop at a launch discount of 1,350 Oneiric Shards (increasing to 1,650 after 3.4 ends).

QoL Improvements and Minigames

Among the quality-of-life changes, the dialogue skip function is finally being implemented, making it easier for players to control the pacing of story segments. A Story Recap feature is also teased for Version 3.6, and the fun-loving Origami Bird Clash multiplayer mode returns, this time with a match-3 twist.

Additionally, the Nameless Glory system receives an aesthetic and rewards update, now titled “Jewels of the Starry Seas.”

More Rewards and Freebies

Players can claim a free 5-star character — either Ruan Mei or Luocha — by reaching Trailblaze Level 4 and redeeming a Golden Companion Spirit token. The Fate/stay night collaboration also allows all Trailblazers to obtain Archer for free just by logging in from July 11 until the end of Version 3.6.

Lastly, the June 20 livestream provided redeemable codes for extra Stellar Jade, Credits, and materials — so be sure to check your in-game mailbox before they expire.
