Injustice 3 may finally be in development, with two veteran voice actors from the series reportedly confirming their involvement at recent fan events.

The long gap since Injustice 2 (2017) has left fans wondering if NetherRealm Studios would return to its superhero fighting series. Over the years, the studio shifted its focus to Mortal Kombat 11 in 2019 and Mortal Kombat 1 in 2023, breaking the usual rotation between the two franchises. Now, with Mortal Kombat 1’s post-launch support ending, speculation has returned in full force.

The fresh wave of rumors began in late August 2025, when reports surfaced that two well-known DC voice actors casually mentioned Injustice 3 during convention meet-and-greets. According to a fan post on X, actor George Newbern, best known as the voice of Superman in both Injustice titles and various animated shows, told a fan at Fan Expo Toronto that he was “currently working on Injustice 3.” The comment spread quickly online, with many treating it as a near-confirmation that the project is underway.

Not long after, another voice actor, Phil LaMarr, who previously portrayed Aquaman and John Stewart’s Green Lantern in the series, reportedly made a similar statement. A fan who met LaMarr at a signing in Houston shared that the actor said, “They’re making another one. They’re doing Injustice 3.

Of course, voice actor comments should always be taken with some caution. In fact, Newbern later clarified that his statement had been misunderstood and wasn’t meant to be a “leak.” Still, considering his long-standing role as Superman, many fans remain convinced that he spoke truthfully.

As per past development patterns, voice recording for fighting games often happens midway through production, which adds weight to the idea that the sequel is already well along.

The bigger context also supports the theory. NetherRealm has a history of alternating between Mortal Kombat and Injustice, and with Mortal Kombat 1 now wrapped up, the timing feels right for a return to DC’s alternate universe brawler. Even co-creator Ed Boon hinted earlier this year that he would be “surprised” if the studio never revisited Injustice.

Some are already voicing hopes for fresh roster additions like Constantine or Beast Boy, while others are simply asking NetherRealm to retire the “Evil Superman” storyline that’s been central since the series’ debut.

Warner Bros. and NetherRealm have yet to make an official announcement, but fans are keeping their eyes on upcoming gaming events like The Game Awards or Summer Game Fest 2026 for a possible reveal.
