Warhorse Studios is bringing Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 to the big screen—not with a traditional Hollywood remake, but through a unique in-house cinematic project built directly from the game’s original cutscenes.
Rather than waiting for a studio adaptation like The Last of Us or Fallout, the developers have compiled a two-hour “cutscene movie” using footage from the game itself.
This special version will premiere at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival on July 9, 2025, at 7 PM. But if you want to see it, you’ll need to make your way to the picturesque Czech town of Karlovy Vary, where the event is being held.
Released in February 2025, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is the sequel to Warhorse Studios’ ambitious medieval RPG. Set in 1403 Bohemia, the story follows Henry, a humble blacksmith’s son portrayed by Tom McKay, who is thrust into the chaos of a civil war after his village is attacked. The game earned high praise for its attention to historical accuracy and compelling narrative—Metacritic gave it an 88 on PC.
According to Warhorse CEO Martin Frývaldský, the idea of a big-screen version has been in the works for a while. “I have wished to see Kingdom Come: Deliverance II on the big screen for a long time,” he shared, adding that Henry’s grounded, emotional story has the potential to resonate with film audiences just as strongly as with gamers.
The cutscene film focuses specifically on the Trosky Region, the setting for the first half of the game. The cut was directed by game creators Daniel Vávra and Petr Pekař, ensuring that the essence of the original experience remains intact.
As of now, there’s no confirmation on whether a second part will follow to cover the latter half of the game’s story. Still, this project offers a fresh way to experience the narrative for fans who might prefer watching to playing.
