Nintendo has confirmed that a special Kirby Air Riders Direct will be broadcast today, August 19, giving fans their first in-depth look at the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive.
The presentation will run for about 45 minutes and focus entirely on the game.
The timing of this Direct is also interesting, as it comes just before Gamescom 2025 kicks off in Cologne, fueling speculation that Kirby Air Riders could be playable on the show floor as Nintendo announces its presence there.
For those planning to tune in, here's the global timing for Direct:

The company has made it clear that this showcase will focus solely on Kirby Air Riders, so fans hoping for updates on titles like Metroid Prime 4 may want to temper expectations.
Kirby Air Riders marks the first new project in years from Masahiro Sakurai, best known as the creative mind behind the Super Smash Bros. series. Development began in 2023, shortly after support for Smash Ultimate wrapped up, making this project a fresh direction for Sakurai and his team.
According to early details shared on Nintendo’s website, the game aims to revive and expand upon the mechanics of the 2003 GameCube cult classic Kirby Air Ride, with new courses, modes, and modernized gameplay systems.
The April teaser trailer gave fans only a brief glimpse, leaning heavily on nostalgia rather than revealing mechanics. Tomorrow’s Direct, however, promises to deliver a much more complete picture — from track designs and racing modes to possible multiplayer elements.
What makes this showcase especially exciting is how Nintendo appears to be positioning Kirby Air Riders as a flagship Switch 2 title. Much like Mario Kart and Smash Bros. defined earlier console generations, Kirby Air Riders could play a similar role in shaping the identity of Nintendo’s new system.
