Marvel Rivals Ignite 2025: Everything You Need to Know

Marvel Rivals, the popular hero shooter game, is launching its biggest esports tournament yet called "Ignite" starting this May 2025, with a massive $3 million prize pool.
NetEase Games recently announced all the details for this major gaming competition. The tournament comes right after former Overwatch pro player Félix 'xQc' Lengyel hosted a $250,000 tournament for streamers last week, where British creator Sweet Anita was part of the winning team.
The Ignite tournament stands out with its impressive $3 million prize pool, with the top prize being $1 million. This makes it by far the most profitable event in the game's history. The competition will only be open to PC players, according to NetEase.
Who Can Join?
Ignite will be a worldwide tournament with events in five regions: Americas, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), China, Asia, and Oceania.
Teams will join the tournament in two ways. Some teams will receive direct invitations, while others must qualify through open online qualifiers.
A total of 64 teams will compete, with 30 teams receiving invitations based on their performance in previous Marvel Rivals competitions as below:
Top 4 teams from Marvel Rivals Championship Season 1 – Americas
Top 4 teams from Marvel Rivals Championship Season 1 – EMEA
Top 4 teams from Marvel Rivals Championship Season 1 – Asia
Top 4 teams from Marvel Rivals Championship Season 1 – China
Top 4 teams from Marvel Rivals Invitational – Americas
Top 4 teams from Marvel Rivals Invitational – EMEA
Top 2 teams from Marvel Rivals Invitational – Asia
Top 2 teams from Marvel Rivals Invitational – China
Top 2 teams from Marvel Rivals Invitational – Oceania
Some top teams expected to receive invitations include Sentinels, Virtus.Pro, Uprise, OUG, 100 Thieves, U4RIA NLE, and Kanga Esports. These teams were champions in previous Marvel Rivals tournaments.
The remaining 34 spots will be filled through Open Qualifiers, with specific slots allocated to each region:
Americas: 8 spots
EMEA: 8 spots
Asia: 6 spots
China: 6 spots
Oceania: 6 spots
Tournament Schedule
The Ignite tournament will start with Stage 1, beginning May 15th with the first Open Qualifiers. Here's the full schedule:
May 15th-21st: Registration period opens
May 15th-25th: First split for Open Qualifiers
May 26th-June 1st: Second split for Open Qualifiers
May 23rd-25th: Single-elimination bracket for first split
May 30th-June 1st: Single-elimination bracket for second split
After the qualifiers, the 34 qualified teams will join the 30 invited teams in the Group Stages.
Half of these teams will be eliminated, while the top 50% will advance to Regional Playoffs in July, completing Stage 1.
The tournament will then move to Mid-Season Finals in July with a special $500,000 prize pool.
Following this, Stage 2 will use the same format as Stage 1, with the top performers from Stage 1 automatically qualifying.
The Grand Finals, featuring teams from all regions, will take place in November 2025.
How to Register
For players interested in joining the Open Qualifiers, NetEase has provided simple registration steps. Players must:
Be part of a faction
Have reached at least Grandmaster 3 rank in Season 2
Launch Marvel Rivals on PC
Go to the 'Marvel Rivals Clash' tab in the 'Tournaments' section
Submit their application
Registration opens on May 15th and closes on May 21st, giving teams one week to sign up for this major esports event.
For Marvel Rivals players ranked Grandmaster or above, this could be the perfect time to enter professional gaming with such substantial prizes on the line.
