So, what exactly is Fox Hunt? According to Konami’s official description, it’s a hide-and-seek-inspired online mode that builds on the sneaking mechanics the series is famous for. Up to 12 players can join a match, teaming up in pairs to survive across three different fields, including the jungle. Each match randomly selects one of two mission types, and if you fail your objective during a phase, you’re out. It’s a survival-of-the-fittest setup that feels very true to the spirit of Metal Gear.
Fox Hunt also introduces some unique tools. The AT-Camo suit lets you instantly switch camouflage patterns to blend into your surroundings, whether you’re escaping, ambushing, or sneaking past enemies. Meanwhile, the Naked Sense ability sharpens your senses, helping you detect threats and supplies nearby. But there’s a catch, using it too long drains stamina, and activating it alerts others to your presence. It’s a clever risk-reward mechanic that should keep matches tense.
The mode is based on the classic Sneaking Rule from Metal Gear Online, but with modern graphical upgrades that make camouflage and survival feel more realistic than ever.
For longtime fans, this is a welcome addition. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater already brought the iconic third entry back to life with updated visuals and mechanics, and Fox Hunt adds a new layer of replayability. Considering the franchise’s uncertain future after Hideo Kojima’s departure, it’s encouraging to see Konami experimenting with ways to keep the series relevant.
