Monster Hunter Wilds' second major free update is officially set to launch on June 30, 2025—though fans found out earlier than intended thanks to an accidental leak from PlayStation.

While Capcom was preparing to reveal Title Update 2 at its upcoming Capcom Spotlight showcase on June 26, PlayStation’s website briefly jumped the gun. A new banner promoting the update was spotted online before being swiftly taken down, but not before fans and news outlets like Gematsu took note.

Headlining the update are the returns of two fan-favorite monsters, one of which has been confirmed as Lagiacrus, a sea serpent that debuted in Monster Hunter Tri. The second monster hasn’t been officially named, but based on community datamines, it’s widely expected to be Seregios, known for its bleed-inducing attacks and aerial agility.

Adding to the challenge, Title Update 2 introduces an Arch-Tempered version of Uth Duna, the apex predator of the Scarlet Forest. This tougher variant will be featured in a special event quest, with successful hunters rewarded with a unique gamma-tier armor set—a cosmetic upgrade with flair for veterans looking to stand out.

The update isn’t just about monsters though. A major new feature is the addition of Layered Weapons, allowing players to alter the appearance of their weapons without affecting their stats or embedded decorations. It’s a welcome customization tool for fashion hunters who want their arsenal to match their armor set.

There’s also a sprinkle of lighter content: players can earn a Doshaguma Mask from one of the event quests, pick up a free gesture set, and browse paid cosmetic DLCs for more personalization options.

Capcom hasn't officially confirmed the full list of features yet, but all signs point to the Capcom Spotlight on June 26 as the platform where these details will be formally shared.

Despite the strong start—with over 8 million copies sold in its first three days and becoming Capcom’s fastest-selling title everMonster Hunter Wilds has seen a slight dip in player sentiment recently. Criticism has largely centered around the game’s performance on PC and a perceived lack of post-launch content. This upcoming update may be Capcom’s way of turning the tide back in its favor.

The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. And with new monsters, events, and quality-of-life features on the horizon, hunters have plenty of reasons to gear up again.
