Nintendo has confirmed that several of its products, including all current Nintendo Switch models and accessories, will become more expensive in Canada starting soon.
In an official announcement on Monday, the company stated that the price adjustment is being made “based on market conditions.” The change affects a wide range of items — from the standard Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite to the OLED Model, along with physical and digital game purchases and accessories. Essentially, everything under the current Switch umbrella will see a price bump.
UPDATE: The Nintendo Switch Online also sees a price hike. New prices are:
Individual Membership
1 Month — $4.99 -> $5.99
3 Months — $9.99 -> $11.99
12 Months — $24.99 -> $29.99
Family Membership
12 Months — $44.99 -> $49.99
Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack
Individual Membership
12 Months — $63.99 -> $69.99
Family Membership
12 Months — $99.99 -> $109.99
However, the Switch 2 console, its games, and accessories will not be affected by this update. Nintendo made it clear that these next-generation products will remain at their previously planned pricing — at least for now.
While specific price increases weren’t disclosed, Nintendo says the full details will be shared on August 1st through the official Nintendo Canada website.
This isn’t the first pricing shake-up for Nintendo in recent months. Earlier this year, just ahead of the Switch 2 pre-order window in North America, the company delayed the pre-order date and raised prices on several accessories.
The timing of this latest move is also drawing attention due to recent geopolitical chatter. U.S. President Donald Trump announced intentions to end trade negotiations with Canada, and while Nintendo hasn’t officially linked its decision to that statement, the overlap hasn’t gone unnoticed.
This change also comes amid a broader industry trend. Microsoft recently increased Xbox Series X prices worldwide, and Sony followed with selective PS5 price hikes in several regions. Nintendo’s move seems to align with this pattern, though it remains focused solely on Canada for now.
Whether this signals further price changes in other regions is still unclear, but it’s something fans and consumers will definitely be watching closely in the weeks ahead.
