Overwatch 2 Reveals Wuyang, New Water-Based Support Hero Arriving in Season 18

Overwatch 2 Reveals Wuyang

Blizzard Entertainment has revealed the next playable hero coming to Overwatch 2, introducing Wuyang — a Chinese support character with a unique set of water-based abilities.

Set to make his full debut with Season 18 on August 26, 2025, Wuyang offers a mix of healing and offensive skills designed to keep teammates alive while making life difficult for opponents.

First teased under the codename “Aqua,” Wuyang uses a Xuanwu staff to channel his abilities. He can fire damaging water orbs at enemies or provide steady healing streams to allies. His skill set includes:

  • Guardian Wave – Sends a forward-moving wave that boosts ally healing and pushes enemies back.

  • Rushing Torrent – Lets him ride water to move faster and jump higher.

  • Tidal Blast (Ultimate) – Shields himself or an ally with water that detonates after a short delay, healing massively and knocking enemies down.

  • Overflow (Minor Perk) – Restores ammo and healing resources when Rushing Torrent is used.

  • Balance (Minor Perk) – Increases passive healing briefly when landing damage with water orbs.

  • Ebb and Flow (Major Perk) – Allows Guardian Wave to rewind to its starting point with reduced damage.

  • Falling Rain (Major Perk) – Grants control over three water orbs at once, with reduced damage and explosion size.

According to Blizzard, players eager to try Wuyang early can join a limited-time trial from August 14 to 18.

This marks the second new hero for Overwatch 2 in 2025, following the earlier addition of Freya, a Nordic huntress.

The reveal comes as Blizzard continues to follow its ambitious 2025 roadmap, which also brought in experimental modes like the third-person “Stadium” mode.

The update also arrives just months after the Overwatch 2 development team unionized, alongside Blizzard’s Story and Franchise Development team, to address workplace concerns such as pay disparity and remote work opportunities.

Overwatch 2 is currently available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC (via Steam and Xbox PC).
