PlayStation is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a premium photography book and a special sneaker collaboration with Reebok.
What is “PlayStation: The First 30 Years”?

To commemorate the milestone, Sony has unveiled PlayStation: The First 30 Years, a 400-page hardback photography book that takes readers through the brand’s journey from the original PlayStation to the PlayStation 5.
According to the PlayStation Blog, the book will showcase "never-before-seen prototypes, concept sketches, and development models" drawn directly from Sony’s archives. This includes everything from early mockups that never left the studio to iconic hardware designs that defined multiple console generations.
Notably, the book features commentary and insights from some of PlayStation’s most influential creators, including Ken Kutaragi (known as the “Father of PlayStation”), designer Teiyu Goto, and Yujin Morisawa.
The photography has been captured by Benedict Redgrove, known for his acclaimed 2019 project NASA: Past and Present Dreams of the Future. Art direction comes from Michael C Place, who famously designed the WipEout series packaging, alongside designer Nicole Motby of Studio.Build.
How Much Does the Book Cost?
The standard edition of PlayStation: The First 30 Years is priced at £95 ($125), and the Deluxe Edition is priced at £245 ($325).
This premium version includes exposed binding, a clamshell presentation box, and exclusive art prints. Only 1,994 copies will be produced, referencing the year of the PlayStation’s original launch.
Both editions are published by Read-Only Memory, a UK-based publisher, in collaboration with Sony and are scheduled to ship in Spring 2026. You can pre-order from its official website.
PlayStation x Reebok: Sneakers Inspired by the Original Console
The celebrations aren’t stopping at books. Sony has teamed up with Reebok to launch a PlayStation 30th Anniversary sneaker collection. Each design draws inspiration from the console’s early years and its launch regions:
InstaPump Fury 94 (Japan)
Pump Omni Zone II (United States)
Workout Plus (United Kingdom)

The sneakers will be released in October 2025 and will come in limited-edition packaging styled after the original PlayStation console. The anniversary gray palette and nostalgic details tie the designs back to Sony’s first gaming system.
Price and pre-order details will be announced soon.
