Post Malone will headline the opening ceremony of the 2025 Esports World Cup, set to take place on July 10 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Grammy-nominated artist, known for his work across hip-hop, pop, and country genres, isn’t a newcomer to the gaming world. In fact, he’s been active in the esports space since 2020 when he joined the ownership group of Envy Gaming, a major North American esports organization. Over the years, that organization has evolved through a merger with Native Gaming, branching into more competitive titles. Beyond business, Malone has also made his presence known on Twitch, streaming games like Call of Duty: Warzone, Apex Legends, and PUBG.

According to a recent LinkedIn post by the EWCF, Post Malone’s role at the event aims to highlight how esports can blend entertainment, music, and digital culture — positioning the Esports World Cup as more than just a tournament, but a full-fledged cultural experience.

Mike McCabe, Chief Operating Officer of EWCF, shared his excitement about the performance, saying, “Esports is becoming a global cultural force — where music, storytelling, and competition converge to create moments that are not just seen, but felt.” He added that bringing in Post Malone — both a global music icon and a genuine gaming enthusiast — reflects the event’s commitment to building an entertainment platform that resonates with today’s digital generation.

The star-powered lineup doesn’t stop with Post Malone. Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo was recently announced as a global ambassador for the Esports World Cup, underlining the event's ambition to reach mainstream audiences far beyond gaming circles.

Ascension,” a track by Swedish DJ Alesso and cellist Tina Guo, has now been released as part of the World Cup’s marketing campaign.

As per the EWCF, fans can expect more music performances and collaborations to be revealed in the weeks leading up to the tournament.
