Capcom's Pragmata has sold one million copies in just two days since its launch on April 17, 2026.
The game was released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Pragmata is a sci-fi action-adventure game set in a near-future lunar world. Players control Hugh Williams, who teams up with Diana, an android girl, as the two try to escape the moon and return to Earth. The gameplay blends third-person shooting with Diana's hacking mechanics, which reviewers widely praised for being clever and well-integrated into the experience.
Critics have responded warmly to the game. It currently sits in the upper 80s on both OpenCritic and Metacritic. The combat, the way puzzle elements were woven into the action, and the dynamic between Hugh and Diana were among the highlights called out by reviewers. Some criticism was directed at repetitive enemy encounters and a story that did not fully land, but the overall reception has been strong.
Capcom first announced Pragmata back in June 2020, targeting the then-upcoming next-generation platforms. After that reveal, the project went quiet for a very long time. It was not until 2025 that Capcom confirmed a 2026 release window, eventually settling on a mid-April date.
The timing worked out well. There was no major competition on the calendar around launch, giving Pragmata room to breathe.
According to analytics firm Alinea Analytics, one of the most pivotal moves Capcom made was releasing a playable PC demo in December 2025. The demo gave players a genuine taste of the game's tone and mechanics early on. The gamble paid off in measurable ways:
Steam wishlists spiked by nearly 500,000 in December 2025, directly coinciding with the demo release
January wishlisters converted at a rate of 5.44%
March wishlisters, closer to launch, converted at 3.74%
Capcom also sent review keys out early, with the embargo lifting well before launch day. That transparency signaled confidence in the product and helped build positive word-of-mouth ahead of release.
How the Sales Break Down
According to the report by Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics, the one million is divided into:
Steam: approximately 574,000 copies sold, generating close to $30 million in gross revenue
PS5: nearing 300,000 copies
Xbox: under 100,000 copies
That means the PC version is currently outperforming both console versions combined. Elliott noted that 58.4% of Pragmata's PlayStation players also played Resident Evil Requiem, pointing to a strong overlap with the core Capcom audience.
Pragmata launched at $60, lower than the $70 that has become the new standard for AAA titles, including Capcom's own Resident Evil Requiem earlier this year. That lower barrier to entry likely made the decision easier for players who were on the fence.
Elliott described the game's audience as largely Millennial gamers who grew up with linear action games during the PS3 and Xbox 360 era. With a campaign running around 12 hours, Pragmata fits neatly into that nostalgia.
This is not an isolated win for the publisher. Capcom has had a strong run this year. Resident Evil Requiem launched earlier and managed to satisfy both longtime fans of the series and newcomers who discovered the franchise through the more recent entries. Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection followed, sitting at an 86 on Metacritic and expanding the spinoff series' mainstream appeal.
Pragmata now rounds out what has been a remarkable stretch for the company.
Up next for Capcom is Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a revival of the long-dormant samurai action series. No release date has been confirmed yet, but the publisher has promised it will arrive sometime this year.
