  • Resident Evil 2 Remake: approximately 1 year

  • Resident Evil 7: Biohazard: approximately 17 months

  • Resident Evil 3 Remake: approximately 2 years

  • Requiem did all of that in five days.

Top seller in the franchise:

  • Resident Evil 7: Biohazard: 16.8 million

  • Resident Evil Village: 13.5 million

  • Resident Evil 4 Remake: 12.2 million

Resident Evil Requiem currently holds a user score of 9.4 on Metacritic, placing it as the second-highest-rated game by user score on the platform, just behind Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which sits at 9.5.

On the post-launch front, Capcom has made it clear that the game is far from done. The company stated, "Going forward, Capcom plans to implement several measures, such as ongoing support and additional game content, so players can continue to enjoy the title longer."

Last week, game director Koshi Nakanishi already confirmed that a major story expansion is in the works, a mini-game is arriving in May, and a photo mode is also on the way.

There is also something bigger on the horizon for franchise fans. The Resident Evil series is approaching its 30th anniversary, which falls on March 22, 2026. According to the press release, "Capcom is readying various plans for this anniversary to delight series fans, such as a collaboration between Universal Studios Japan and Resident Evil Requiem in 2026, and orchestral concerts in Japan, the US, and Europe."
