A remake of Resident Evil 0 is in development, according to a new report.

The Resident Evil franchise has been a cornerstone of survival horror since its debut in 1996, and with its 30th anniversary approaching next year, Capcom seems to be preparing more than just the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem, which is set to launch in February.
Fans have long speculated about which classic entry would get the remake treatment next, and now it looks like the GameCube prequel is finally on deck.
The scoop comes from mp1st, a site that has previously reported on projects like Everwild and Perfect Dark. According to them, the Resident Evil 0 remake is currently in development under the codename “Chamber” — a clever nod to protagonist Rebecca Chambers. The project is said to be targeting a release window around 2028.
The same report also backs up insider DuskGolem’s earlier claims that a Resident Evil Code Veronica remake is in the works, with a planned launch in Q1 2027. If accurate, that would mean fans are in for back‑to‑back remakes leading into the franchise’s fourth decade.
One of the more interesting details involves casting. Actor Jon McLaren, best known for voicing Star‑Lord in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (2021), reportedly has “Project Chamber” listed on his resume as a lead role. If true, this strongly suggests he will portray Billy Coen, the co‑protagonist alongside Rebecca.
The remake is also being supported by Beyond Capture Studios, a motion capture company that previously worked with Capcom on Resident Evil 4 Remake and Street Fighter 6. As with other recent remakes, this likely means the original voice actors won’t be reprising their roles.
While the core narrative of Resident Evil 0 is expected to remain intact, the remake will reportedly expand on certain story beats. One example involves the train sequence at the start of the game. In the original, the train conductor was only referenced indirectly, but in the remake, he will appear as a more active character. According to the report, he even betrays Rebecca during a key moment, locking her in with zombies to save himself.
A special anniversary video scheduled for October 29 to coincide with Requiem’s pre‑orders, so there’s a chance we might hear more about these remakes soon. Until then, take these reports with caution.
