PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions has officially opened a new closed beta for their upcoming game "Prologue: Go Wayback!" - a single-player survival roguelike.
This marks the fifth testing phase since the game was first revealed to the public in December 2024. The full early access release is planned for summer 2025.
The closed beta test began on May 7 and will run until May 14, 2025. Players interested in trying the game can access it through either Steam or the Epic Games Store.
Getting into the beta is straightforward - you simply need to join the official PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions Discord server to receive a code for your preferred platform.
Unlike many beta tests that use random selection, this one operates on a "first-come, first-served" system. As the development team notes, codes are being distributed until they run out, so interested players should move quickly to secure their spot.
For those who miss out on this testing opportunity, there's good news. According to announcements in the PUBG Productions Discord, another playtest has already been scheduled for next month, beginning on June 2, 2025. This gives players multiple chances to experience the game before its anticipated release, which could happen as soon as August 2025.
Prologue: Go Wayback! is an open-world survival adventure game developed by Brendan Greene, the creator of PUBG. Set in a procedurally generated wilderness, players are tasked with surviving harsh environments and reaching a distant weather station to signal for rescue.
Armed with only a weathered map, a compass, and basic tools, players must navigate unpredictable weather, gather resources, find shelter, and manage survival metrics like hunger, thirst, and body temperature.
The game uses machine learning-driven terrain generation, ensuring each playthrough features a unique landscape, with millions of possible maps.
