Rockstar Games has temporarily removed the PlayStation Plus requirement for GTA Online, giving PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players free access to the online mode.
This move comes just ahead of the release of the A Safehouse in the Hills update, which is set to launch on Wednesday, December 10.
The update promises plenty of new content, ranging from luxurious mansions to fresh missions, vehicles, and more ways to earn and spend money in Los Santos.
The change was first spotted by community member PLTytus, and Rockstar insider Tex2 suggested that the free access will likely last for about two weeks, meaning players can enjoy GTA Online without a subscription until around December 23.

This isn’t the first time Rockstar and Sony have offered free access to GTA Online during major updates. Sometimes the window lasts just a weekend, while other times it extends longer, as is the case now.
For those already subscribed to PlayStation Plus, GTA V and GTA Online remain available in the Game Catalog for Extra and Premium tier members, ensuring plenty of ways to access the game.
