Sony is raising the prices of the PS5, PS5 Digital Edition, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal across several Southeast Asian markets, effective May 1, 2026.

The announcement came on April 26, 2026, when Sony officially confirmed updated recommended retail prices for the region. The affected countries include Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, and Vietnam.

Not every market is seeing price changes across all models, but the increases are widespread enough to affect a large portion of the PlayStation user base in the region.

Here is a full breakdown of the new prices by country:

Singapore

  • PS5: SGD 849

  • PS5 Digital Edition: SGD 764

  • PS5 Pro: SGD 1,167

  • PlayStation Portal: SGD 347

Malaysia

  • PS5: MYR 2,799

  • PS5 Digital Edition: MYR 2,499

  • PS5 Pro: MYR 3,999

  • PlayStation Portal: MYR 1,099

Thailand

  • PS5 Digital Edition: THB 18,790

  • PS5 Pro: THB 30,990

  • PlayStation Portal: THB 8,380

Indonesia

  • PS5: IDR 11,399,000

  • PS5 Digital Edition: IDR 9,999,000

  • PlayStation Portal: IDR 5,199,000

Philippines

  • PS5: PHP 40,032

Vietnam

  • PS5: VND 16,900,000

As per Sony's official statement, the price hikes are the result of "continued pressures in the global economic landscape." The company added that the change is necessary to "ensure we can continue delivering innovative, high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide."

Similar pricing changes were made back in April 2025, when Sony raised prices in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and the UK.

North America then felt the pinch twice over. The base PS5 price climbed to $549.99 in August 2025 and then jumped again to $649.99 in March 2026. Southeast Asia is now the latest region to follow that same pattern.

At this point, the PS5 is starting to feel less like an entertainment console and more like a premium luxury purchase, especially for buyers in emerging markets where currency differences make these figures hit considerably harder.

That said, the price increases have not slowed Sony down in terms of sales performance. In February, the company reported selling 8 million units of the PS5 in the third quarter ending December 31, 2025. Lifetime sales have now surpassed 90 million units since the console's launch.

For now, if you are based in Southeast Asia and were planning to pick up a PS5 or PlayStation Portal, May 1 is your deadline before the new prices kick in.
