Rainbow Six Siege is getting a major upgrade in June 2025 with the launch of Siege X—and it’s shaping up to be the biggest evolution the tactical shooter has seen since its original 2015 release.
Dropping on June 10, the Siege X update brings a whole bunch of new features and improvements. We're talking a brand-new 6v6 game mode called Dual Front, modernized classic maps, slick new rappelling mechanics, weapon inspection, and even a full rework of the Operator Clash.
New Game Mode: Dual Front
One of the most exciting parts of the update is Dual Front, a permanent 6v6 mode that mixes things up by combining elements from older modes like Hostage, Bomb, and Secure Area. According to Ubisoft’s roadmap, this mode lets players respawn and mixes Attackers and Defenders on the same team—a first for Rainbow Six Siege.
Modernized Maps and Destructible Elements
Ubisoft is also giving a facelift to five classic maps—Bank, Border, Chalet, Clubhouse, and Kafe—with updated lighting, better shadows, and 4K textures. And that’s just the beginning. Three more maps will be modernized each season during Year 10.
They’re also adding new destructible elements to maps—like gas pipes, metal detectors, and smoke detectors—that players can shoot, break, or use tactically during matches.
Advanced Movement and Controls
Movement’s getting a serious upgrade, too. Siege X introduces more realistic rappelling, letting players run and jump around building corners horizontally for the first time.
Operator Updates and Clash Rework
Several Operators are getting tweaks in Operation Daybreak (Year 10, Season 2):
Clash: Complete rework—now she can place her shield anywhere and control it remotely while moving freely
Sledge: Can now knock back shield operators using the Hammer
Jackal: His Eyenox tracker now has more resources (5) but pings less often (1 per scan), Coldest footprints now last 120s
Jäger: His ADS can now intercept more types of projectiles like Capitão’s bolts and Gridlock’s Trax Stingers
Thunderbird: Her Kona Station now only heals teammates (no more accidental healing of enemies)
Blackbeard:Â Shield now has tinted glass and better audio cues for transparency
Ela and Zofia: Grizmot Mine and Lifeline concussions have reduced ranges
On top of that, electricity no longer deals damage—it now slows down enemies and fries gadgets, no matter which side they’re on.
Weapon Inspection & Pick/Ban System
For the first time ever in Siege, players will be able to inspect their weapons mid-game—yep, just like in Call of Duty or CS:GO. Now you can finally flex those skins in the middle of a match.
There’s also a new Pick and Ban system where teams can simultaneously ban an enemy Operator per round—up to six bans per match. These reset when teams switch sides.
Free Access
Siege X will offer Free Access for new players, letting them try out Quick Match, Unranked, and the new Dual Front mode without needing to buy the game. It’s part of Ubisoft’s plan to grow the player base while keeping the competitive scene strong.

Anti-Cheat & Community Features
Ubisoft is stepping up its game with R6 ShieldGuard, a new unified anti-cheat system. Starting in Season 2, it’ll become dynamic—meaning Ubisoft can push new game files to players mid-season to respond to cheats faster than ever.
They’ve also made progress on their Reputation System, reporting fewer negative player interactions and an increase in text chat usage—a small win for better vibes in matches.
