Remedy's Co-op Shooter FBC: Firebreak Launches This June

FBC: Firebreak

Remedy Entertainment has officially announced that FBC: Firebreak, their first multiplayer game set in the Control universe, will launch on June 17, 2025.

The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC for $39.99, with a Deluxe Edition priced at $49.99 offering exclusive cosmetics.

FBC: Firebreak takes players back to The Oldest House, the mysterious headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control that fans will recognize from the original Control game. In this three-player cooperative shooter, you'll join a team of employees tasked with cleaning up the supernatural threats that have overrun the building.

The game features replayable missions called "Jobs," each with unique challenges and objectives that require teamwork to overcome. According to Remedy, these missions range from combat-heavy scenarios comparable to Left 4 Dead to stranger tasks like dealing with mysteriously multiplying sticky notes – maintaining the surreal atmosphere that made Control distinctive.

In a player-friendly move, Remedy has confirmed that all future playable content, including new Jobs planned for release in 2025 and 2026, will be completely free. As stated in their announcement, only cosmetic items will be available for purchase, and these won't affect gameplay or be restricted to limited-time availability.

For subscribers to Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, or PlayStation Plus Premium/Extra, FBC: Firebreak will be available at no additional cost on day one.

The game represents a significant milestone for Remedy as their first self-published title. After the success of Alan Wake II, the studio acquired the full rights to the Control franchise from previous publisher 505 Games earlier this year, giving them complete creative control over this expansion of the Control universe.

Players interested in more customization options can purchase the Deluxe Edition, which includes premium voice packs, exclusive armor sets, weapon skins, and sprays. The game also features a "Requisitions" system that rewards players with new gear and cosmetics simply by playing, with all items remaining permanently available rather than rotating out of a store.

FBC: Firebreak deluxe edition

FBC: Firebreak's June release adds to an already busy summer for video game launches, which will include major titles like Doom: The Dark Ages, Elden Ring: Nightreign, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. And let's not forget Nintendo Switch 2, which is launching with Mario Kart World and tons of first-party and third-party games at launch this June.

This multiplayer spinoff is just one part of Remedy's expanding Control universe. The studio is simultaneously working on a direct sequel, Control 2, and has partnered with Annapurna Pictures for potential film and TV adaptations. Remedy is also developing the Max Payne and Max Payne 2 remake compilation, showing the Finnish studio's commitment to building on their unique narrative-driven worlds.

For fans eager to see the supernatural action in motion, Remedy has released a gameplay trailer showcasing what players can expect when they enter The Oldest House this summer.
