The Resident Evil 4 remake has officially sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, according to a recent announcement from Capcom.
This achievement makes it the fastest title in the long-running horror franchise to reach this impressive milestone, accomplishing the feat in approximately two years since its March 2023 release.
The game's sales have continued to show strong momentum in 2025. Capcom reported that the title had reached 9 million units sold by January 5, meaning it managed to sell an additional million copies in just over three months.
Originally released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam, the game later expanded to Mac, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPad in December 2023.
The remake has been praised for striking a careful balance between honoring the original 2005 classic while modernizing the experience for today's gamers.
Resident Evil 4's success is part of Capcom's broader achievement with its "long-term catalog sales strategy" for the franchise. Several other remakes and recent entries in the series have reached impressive sales figures:
Resident Evil 7 biohazard (2017) and Resident Evil 2 remake (2019) have each sold over 15 million units
Resident Evil Village (2021) has surpassed 11 million units
Resident Evil 3 remake (2020) has exceeded 10 million units
As per Capcom's report, the series as a whole has sold more than 167 million units globally since its inception.
