Capcom has announced a new mobile game titled Resident Evil: Survival Unit, a real-time strategy (RTS) title developed specifically for iOS and Android.
Unlike the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem, which is slated for early 2026, Survival Unit takes a different path—swapping traditional survival horror for tactical gameplay.
The game is being co-developed by Joycity Corporation and Aniplex Inc..
Joycity is best known for strategy-based mobile hits like Gunship Battle and Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War. To ensure Survival Unit stays true to the Resident Evil universe, the development is being carried out in close collaboration with Capcom, aiming for both authenticity and quality.
A full reveal for Resident Evil: Survival Unit is scheduled for July 10, with the showcase set to go live at 3 PM PDT (6 PM EDT / 11 PM BST). Fans can expect to see the first gameplay footage, trailers, and hopefully a release window. The showcase will be broadcast on YouTube, giving players worldwide a front-row seat.
So far, not much has been officially shown, except for a single piece of teaser art. It features a lone vehicle stopped in a forested area next to a billboard advertising the infamous Umbrella Corporation, with the haunting tagline: “Our Business is Life Itself.” The imagery hints that the game might be set in or around the Arklay Mountains, possibly even before the events of Resident Evil 4, during Umbrella’s heyday.
According to the press release, Survival Unit is “designed to appeal to both long-time fans and new players.” While that’s a broad promise, it suggests we could see recognizable characters or familiar locales, potentially blending narrative and strategic elements in a unique way. It could also offer a chance to command STARS operatives or other iconic factions, managing resources, units, and enemy threats in classic RTS fashion.
Resident Evil: Survival Unit will be released in Japan, South Korea, North America, Europe, and other parts of Asia, and will be published by Aniplex, which is part of Sony. The game’s global rollout hints that Capcom is betting big on this mobile spin-off, even if it’s not quite the traditional Resi experience.
