Capcom’s next major entry in the Resident Evil series, titled Resident Evil Requiem, has already surpassed one million wishlists, well ahead of its scheduled release in early 2026.
The milestone was announced via the official Resident Evil X (formerly Twitter) account, where the post read: “Requiem for the dead. Nightmare for the over one million of you who wishlisted ResidentEvilRequiem! Thank you!”
While wishlists aren’t direct indicators of sales, this early buzz clearly suggests fans are highly anticipating the next installment in the long-running survival horror franchise.
Resident Evil Requiem is set to launch on February 27, 2026, and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. That gives Capcom about 8 more months to build on this momentum through trailers, events, and hands-on previews.
For context, the previous mainline entry Resident Evil Village sold over 3 million copies in just four days at launch. The most release Resident Evil 4 Remake has already crossed 10 million units sold, becoming the fastest-selling game in the series to date. Capcom will no doubt be hoping Requiem outpaces that performance, especially with such a strong wishlist showing this early on.
Fans won’t have to wait too long to see more of the game. Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem will be playable for the first time at Gamescom 2025, offering hands-on demos for attendees. Even if you’re not going to be in Cologne for the event, there’s still something to look forward to—new footage is expected to debut during Opening Night Live, the high-profile kickoff event of the expo.
Additionally, Capcom has scheduled its next Capcom Spotlight presentation for Tomorrow, June 26, 2025, at 3 PM PT (11 PM BST). According to Capcom, this showcase will feature updates on several upcoming titles, including Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Street Fighter 6, along with interviews from the developers. The event will also include a detailed look at the latest Monster Hunter Wilds update.
