Roblox CEO David Baszucki’s Account Mysteriously Disappears, Sparking Speculation Among Players

For a few hours on August 16, 2025, Roblox players noticed something strange: the official account of CEO David Baszucki, better known to the community as builderman, was nowhere to be found. The profile seemed to have been suspended or deleted, only to reappear later without explanation.

The disappearance was first flagged by Roblox community insiders such as Ruben Sim on X (formerly Twitter), who pointed out that Baszucki’s account could not be located for several hours before eventually coming back online the next day.

Neither Roblox nor Baszucki has provided any official explanation so far. Interestingly, during that same period, Baszucki’s social media activity focused on Roblox’s safety policies — particularly its rules regarding romantic and sexual content — though he has remained quiet on Twitter since his account reappeared.

This odd incident comes at a tense moment for Roblox and its leadership. Baszucki has been facing mounting criticism over child safety issues on the platform. Earlier this month, the parents of a 13-year-old girl filed a lawsuit against Roblox after their daughter was allegedly kidnapped by a 37-year-old predator posing as a teenager.

Soon after, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murril launched a separate lawsuit accusing Roblox of “permitting and perpetuating an online environment in which child predators thrive.”

Both legal cases point to shortcomings in Roblox’s safeguards, particularly its lack of age verification and parental consent requirements.

Adding to the pressure, a Change.org petition calling for Baszucki’s removal has already crossed 100,000 signatures, with users demanding stronger accountability.

Meanwhile, veteran journalist Chris Hansen, best known for To Catch a Predator, is working on a documentary that will shine a spotlight on predator activity within Roblox — something that could further damage the company’s public image.

Baszucki has been a visible symbol of Roblox’s success for more than 20 years, but his leadership is now under intense scrutiny. The mystery of his temporarily missing profile may have been a glitch or internal moderation issue, but with the current wave of lawsuits, petitions, and community backlash, even small incidents are magnified into larger controversies.
