Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment have confirmed that Sapporo, Japan, will continue to host the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Championship for the next two years.

This move follows the resounding success of the Year 4 Championship, which drew over 34,000 attendees and received widespread acclaim from the global Apex community.

In a press release, EA and Respawn revealed that the ALGS Championship events for Year 5 and Year 6  will take place at the Daiwa House PREMIST DOME in Sapporo through 2027. It marks the first time the tournament’s future location has been confirmed this far in advance—a move that offers some welcome clarity for players, teams, and fans alike.

The Mayor of Sapporo, Katsuhiro Akimoto, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating that this is “an important and significant step forward in Sapporo city’s development through esports.” He also assured full local support in making the upcoming events even more thrilling for both locals and international fans.

Monica Dinsmore, EA’s Head of Esports, echoed that excitement. She praised the “energy and passion” of Sapporo fans and emphasized EA’s ongoing commitment to creating memorable live experiences that bring the Apex Legends community together on a global scale.

The decision to return to Sapporo may not surprise those who witnessed the success of the previous championship. The Year 4 event broke attendance records, and even attracted a personal visit from the city’s mayor. This kind of turnout and civic support made it a natural choice for EA to double down.

Perhaps the most surprising part of this announcement is the early confirmation of ALGS Year 6. That’s a big deal for fans, especially since rumors had been circulating that Year 5 might be the end of the competitive Apex circuit. The speculation had gained traction after professional player Sweetdreams (formerly of LG and NRG) hinted at the circuit’s potential conclusion when announcing his retirement.

By signing a multi-year deal and making it public, EA is sending a strong message about the future of competitive Apex Legends. While full details for Year 6 are still under wraps, the confirmation alone has been welcomed enthusiastically by the community. Fans are already looking ahead to what’s next, especially with the ALGS Midseason Playoffs kicking off on July 10, where teams will compete for a coveted spot at the Year 5 Championship.

The Year 5 Championship is scheduled for January 15–18, 2026, and the Year 6 Championship is set to take place in Winter 2027.
