Former VALORANT pro Ava “florescent” Eugene is at the center of serious sexual assault allegations, prompting a response from Riot Games, the developer behind the game. The company says it’s ready to cooperate with authorities as things unfold.
Who is florescent?
Florescent made headlines earlier this year after becoming the first woman to sign with a Tier 1 VALORANT team. She joined Apeks for the VCT 2025 season in the EMEA region and was widely considered a rising star, following a string of MVP-level performances in the Game Changers circuit.
She stepped away from competition in April, citing personal reasons, but remained an inactive member of the VCT scene up until these allegations came to light.
The Allegations
On May 17, 2025, former Game Changers player Marceline “karie” Carson posted on X (formerly Twitter) on behalf of her friend, known publicly only as “Brick.” In a detailed thread, Brick claimed she was sexually assaulted by florescent on January 3, 2024, during what she described as a toxic relationship.
Brick said she made it clear she didn’t want any sexual contact when visiting florescent’s home. Despite saying “no” multiple times and showing visible discomfort, she claims florescent pressured her into unwanted activity.
Later that day, when Brick tried to leave, she says florescent continued to pressure her for nearly 30 minutes—until Brick felt worn down and gave in.
The next day, karie shared a Google Doc that included a much longer statement from Brick, allegedly written in her own words. The doc outlines a pattern of emotional coercion and manipulation, and includes screenshots and timestamps to back up the claims.
It also mentions that two other ex-girlfriends of florescent reached out to Brick with similar stories. One, named Mika, described the relationship as “emotionally draining and psychologically coercive.” Another woman, who stayed anonymous, said she had experienced emotional manipulation as well.
Florescent Responds
On May 18, florescent issued a public denial via her X (formerly Twitter) account, stating:
“I strongly deny any and all accusations of sexual assault. I’m currently treating this matter with my full attention and exploring legal assistance.”
She also added that she has been advised not to share evidence publicly at this time “for [her] own safety,” and asked the community to respect everyone’s privacy.
Riot Issues a Statement
On May 19, Riot Games posted a statement through the official VCT X account, saying they were aware of sexual assault allegations against "a competitor"—though they didn’t name florescent directly.
“These kinds of allegations are extremely serious,” Riot stated, encouraging anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
They clarified that they won’t launch an internal investigation but will fully cooperate with legal authorities, adding that they’ll review whether the situation impacts the player’s eligibility for future competition.
Community Backlash Over Riot’s Handling
Riot’s vague response didn’t sit well with many fans and community members. Some criticized the lack of clarity and immediate action, especially since, in previous cases involving male pros like Jay “Sinatraa” Won, Riot publicly named the accused and issued competitive suspensions during investigations.
“So Sinatraa gets accused of similar stuff and is barred from competing instantly, but now it’s ‘we’ll see if they’re still eligible’?” one X user wrote.
Another user posted screenshots of Riot’s 2021 statement about Sinatraa, calling out the apparent inconsistency in Riot’s disciplinary communication.

What Comes Next?
As of now, no legal action has been publicly confirmed, and Brick has yet to personally post the allegations herself. Karie, who shared the documents, stated that Brick will come forward when she feels ready.
Riot’s final decision regarding florescent’s eligibility for future events will likely depend on the results of any potential legal investigation.
