South Korean developer Shift Up has officially started recruiting talent for the next installment in the Stellar Blade franchise.

The studio’s breakout hit, Stellar Blade, has already crossed 3 million copies sold worldwide, combining both PS5 and PC sales. When it first launched exclusively on PlayStation 5 in April 2024, the game quickly reached 1 million sales within two months. That momentum picked up again with the PC release in June 2025, which added another million copies in just three days.
Steam debut topped the global charts, peaked at over 192,000 concurrent players, and earned a stellar 93% “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating from more than 63,000 reviews.
Financially, the game has been nothing short of a powerhouse. As per reports from Shift Up, royalties from Sony alone hit $19 million in Q1, with annual totals surpassing $43.2 million.
That kind of success even fueled a blockbuster IPO in June 2024, marking the biggest gaming stock listing in South Korea in nearly three years. CEO Kim Hyung‑tae’s rise was equally notable, with Forbes later naming him among Korea’s 50 richest individuals.
The studio didn’t just pocket the profits; it celebrated by rewarding its 300+ employees with bonuses and PS5 Pro consoles. But the bigger story here is what comes next. Earlier this year, Shift Up confirmed that a sequel is already in development, with a tentative release window before 2027. While that feels far off, the company is wasting no time in building the team to make it happen.
On its recruitment page, Shift Up has now listed several positions tied directly to “Stellar Blade’s next game.” Open roles include scenario writers, system designers, level designers, PC combat designers, monster battle designers, technical artists, programmers, composers, and 3D artists across backgrounds and characters.
If you’re someone who’s ever dreamed of shaping the future of a major action RPG, this could be your shot.
