Stellar Blade's PC launch gave its PS5 version an unexpected but welcome sales boost, helping the game cross 2 million console sales.
When SHIFT UP launched Stellar Blade on PC via Steam on June 11, many expected it to perform well on its own. But what surprised a lot of people is how that launch gave the PS5 version a second wind—at full price, no less. According to data shared by Alinea Analytics, the PC debut didn’t just grow the game’s reach—it pushed PS5 sales from 1.83 million to nearly 2.1 million in just under a month.
What’s impressive is that this jump came with the PS5 version still priced at $69.99. No discounts, no bundles—just pure post-launch hype doing the work. That spike of over 220,000 units sold is actually more than four times the growth seen during earlier sales periods when the price was lower.
Leading up to this, Stellar Blade had already seen a few rounds of discounts across late 2024 and early 2025. Those price cuts helped sell an extra 30K–50K copies each time but didn’t generate anything near the kind of buzz the PC release did. Turns out, PC mods, streamers, and visual comparison videos got people talking—and buying—again.
And the PC numbers? They speak for themselves. SHIFT UP officialy confirmed that over 1 million copies were sold on Steam within the first three days. Stellar Blade also hit a peak of 192,078 concurrent players, landing it in Steam’s top 10 most-played games of 2025 so far. That makes it the most-played single-player PlayStation title on the platform to date.
As per a Forbes report, a large chunk of those PC sales came from China, accounting for a hefty 58%. Add that to the earlier PS5 success, and you’re looking at over 3 million units sold worldwide—a major win for SHIFT UP’s first-ever AAA game and original IP.
Interestingly, before the PC launch, the developer had only confirmed 1 million PS5 units sold in the first two months post-release, then kept quiet. So this new data gives us a much clearer picture of how the game’s been doing behind the scenes.
SHIFT UP isn’t done yet. The studio recently confirmed that a sequel is in the works, possibly landing before 2027, though they haven’t shared much else about it. What’s still up in the air is whether that sequel will launch simultaneously on PC and PlayStation.
There are also fresh rumors floating around about a Switch 2 version. South Korean outlet PlayForum reported that the team is “reviewing various possibilities internally,” including a potential port for Nintendo’s upcoming next-gen console. Nothing’s official yet, but it’s clear SHIFT UP is thinking beyond just one or two platforms.
