Stellar Blade launched on PC via Steam on June 11, 2025, and within 24 hours, it reached a peak of 183,830 concurrent players (CCU) — the highest launch-day figure ever recorded for a single-player PlayStation title on the platform.

This debut performance places Stellar Blade as the fifth most-played game on Steam at the time of writing, behind ongoing multiplayer hits like Counter-Strike 2, PUBG: Battlegrounds, Dota 2, and Apex Legends. Notably, these are all live-service, online games, making Stellar Blade’s single-player success even more remarkable.

According to data collected from SteamDB, the previous record holders among PlayStation-published single-player games on Steam included:

  • Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut – 77,154 CCU

  • God of War (2018) – 73,529 CCU

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered – 66,436 CCU

  • Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition – 56,557 CCU

  • Nioh 2: The Complete Edition – 41,325 CCU

  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth –  40,564 CCU

  • Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition – 40,462 CCU

  • The Last of Us Part I – 36,496 CCU

  • God of War Ragnarök – 35,615 CCU

  • Persona 5 Royal – 35,474 CCU

  • Death Stranding: Director’s Cut – 32,515 CCU

  • The Last of Us Part II – 30,690 CCU

With Stellar Blade nearly tripling these numbers, it has now set a new benchmark for Sony’s future PC ports.

The only PlayStation game on Steam that has achieved a higher peak is Helldivers 2, which reached 458,709 concurrent players. However, that title is a cooperative multiplayer game released simultaneously on both PlayStation and PC, and thus plays by different market dynamics.

From a broader 2025 perspective, Stellar Blade’s debut also places it among the top 10 launches of the year across all games. It trails behind:

  • Monster Hunter Wilds (1,384,608 CCU)

  • Schedule I (459,075 CCU)

  • Elden Ring: Nightreign (313,593 CCU)

  • R.E.P.O. (271,571 CCU)

  • Split Fiction (259,003 CCU)

  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (256,206 CCU)

  • Oblivion Remastered (216,784 CCU)

  • Bongo Cat (194,508 CCU)

  • GTA V Enhanced Edition (187,059 CCU)

Despite being a niche character-action game, Stellar Blade currently ranks No.1 on Steam’s Global Top Sellers, even beating popular multiplayer staples like PUBG, Counter-Strike 2, and Dune: Awakening. The developers at Shift Up celebrated the milestone on social media, thanking fans: “With your incredible support and encouragement, we have reached the No.1 spot on Steam's Global Top Sellers. We will continue to do our best moving forward. Thank you sincerely from the bottom of our hearts.”

Stellar Blade’s strong performance may also be attributed to its excellent PC version. The port includes PC-optimized graphics, support for ultrawide monitors, unlocked frame rates, high-resolution texture packs, and other PC-centric enhancements. These features have been positively received by players, leading to an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ review rating on Steam, with more than 95% of over 6,000 reviews marked as positive.

Originally region-locked in over 100 countries during the demo phase, the full version has now expanded its availability to over 250 regions worldwide. Modding communities have also quickly embraced the title, creating dozens of tweaks, enhancements, and yes — some NSFW modifications — since the demo period.

The success of the console version, combined with this recent PC momentum, has already led to Shift Up confirming a sequel is in development.
