Horror fans have reason to celebrate—Silent Hill 2 Remake is no longer confined to PlayStation 5 and Steam.
As of this week, the critically acclaimed reimagining of the 2001 classic is now available on both the Epic Games Store and GOG, launching with a generous 30% discount for new players.
Originally released on October 8, 2024, this modern remake by Bloober Team and Konami has drawn strong praise for its atmospheric fidelity and technical enhancements.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the game offers completely overhauled visuals, a new third-person perspective, and an improved combat system, all while maintaining the emotional intensity and psychological horror that made the original a landmark title.
New Platforms Prices
Both stores are offering the game at a 30% discount for a limited time. Players can choose between:
Standard Edition – Base game – at $48.99—down from the usual $69.99
Deluxe Edition – Includes a digital artbook, soundtrack, and exclusive in-game cosmetics – at $55.99—down from the usual $79.99
GOG’s version is particularly appealing to fans of offline play and modding, as it’s completely DRM-free, unlike other digital platforms.
This has sparked renewed discussion among fans about potentially making the original Silent Hill 2 available on GOG, too—a version long considered abandonware in the PC community. "I feel like having the Remake available on GOG opens the conversations about getting the OG Silent Hill 2 on GOG as well," one Reddit user commented.
High Praise
The remake has earned strong review scores, with a Metacritic average of 86/100 on PS5 and 87/100 for PC, marking it as one of the better-received horror remakes in recent memory.
Critics and fans alike have praised its respectful adaptation of James Sunderland’s tragic story, along with the haunting atmosphere of fog-filled Silent Hill.
Still No Word on Xbox
Despite its broader release on PC, Silent Hill 2 Remake remains absent from all Xbox platforms. Rumors have circulated that a port might be in the works, but no official confirmation has come from Konami or Bloober Team. For now, Xbox players will have to watch from the sidelines.
